This is a lesson I learned the hard way during my younger days: keeping my head stuck in the past was simply a way to avoid going forward. How I wish someone had thumped me on the head and said, “Hey, kid, wake up – while you’re sitting around wishing you had done things differently, your life today is slipping away! And along that same line of thought, ladies, don’t let past baggage hinder the choices you make for yourself today.
You build on failure. You use it as a stepping stone. Close the door on the past. You don’t try to forget the mistakes, but you don’t dwell on it. You don’t let it have any of your energy, or any of your time, or any of your space. (Johnny Cash)
